As a County Board Member, Tony has accomplished the following:

– Since 2014, Tony has been the Chairman of the Environmental Committee of DuPage County, and was appointed with overwhelming bipartisan support. He has spearheaded efforts to provide and expand electronics recycling programs in the County. He’s overseen the rollout of the County’s “Cool DuPage” program, aiming to reduce DuPage’s greenhouse gas emissions by 20% by the year 2030. And he’s promoted greener practices in County government. Tony plans to keep DuPage a beautiful and clean place to live and do business.

– From 2009-2012, Tony was the Chairman of the Development Committee of DuPage County, which handles zoning and land use issues in unincorporated areas. In this capacity he presided over some of the most controversial land-use cases of the past three years.

– Tony partnered with the County Coroner to train and certify all Coroner’s Deputies as grief counselors. These are first responders to scenes of extreme grief and distress, and it’s important that they have the skills to be able to do their jobs while also bringing solace to people who have just suffered loss.

– Tony spoke out when the state’s financial woes threatened funding for the “Meals on Wheels” program, which provides meals to senior citizens who cannot get meals themselves.  Thanks to Tony’s advocacy, the program was protected and no seniors are going hungry in DuPage.  In addition, DuPage now advocates for protecting non-profit funding from the state in its Legislative Program, thanks to Tony’s efforts.

– Tony voted to allocate funds to combat the heroin epidemic in DuPage. These funds go to support new educational programs in our schools, and the distribution of the anti-overdose medication Narcan to County Sheriff’s Deputies and local police. Narcan has saved well over 100 lives in DuPage from heroin overdose.

– Tony has worked with County staff, other Board Members, and the religious community of DuPage County to help craft text amendments to the Zoning Code that recognize the rights of places of assembly while balancing their infrastructure needs with what the County can provide. These amendments are the culmination of over five years of staff research and previous attempts at Code reform.

– Tony voted to ban video gambling in unincorporated DuPage, protecting our communities from the damage the “crack cocaine of gambling” can cause.

– Tony voted to support Navistar’s relocation to Lisle after listening to neighbors’ concerns about the move and weighing its potential impact on the area both economically and environmentally.

– Tony voted for bringing in over $70 million in federal funds for dozens of infrastructure projects in DuPage County, including flood mitigation along the DuPage River and improvements to the Convalescent Center.

– Tony has spoken out against contracting with companies that make political donations to Board Members, and has never accepted contributions from such companies.

– Tony has the best attendance record of all three District 5 Board Members and the third-best of the entire County Board.

– Tony has never taken a pension from this job and he opposes the exorbitant pension plan the County Board has secured for itself.

– Tony has voted against all salary increases for Board Members and donated a portion of his salary to charity every year.

– Tony has never voted to raise your taxes.
